Sun, sea, food and exciting activities are all a must-have when holidaying with kids, to ensure the entire family is happy. Luckily, these are available wherever you go in Cyprus, making it a perfect holiday destination.

The beautiful island also benefits from a temperate climate that rarely dips below 17C, meaning you can visit any time of year and still enjoy the warmth. Spending time as a family on the beach can create lasting memories for kids and adults alike – below, we list some of the top Cyprus beaches you simply must visit.

Ayia Napa

Peaceful afternoon in Ayia Napa, Cyprus.

Part of the Famagusta district in the Eastern part of the island is Ayia Napa. There you’ll find a vast selection of family friendly hotels and holiday parks to enjoy for every age. Research shows that far fewer children have been ‘active’ since the pandemic, so a holiday may be the perfect place to get your children running about again.

The Dolfins’ Luna Park, for instance, offers plenty of fun attractions for toddlers and younger children. Nearby Loukkos Tou Mandi beach also has stunning turquoise water that really brings out that holiday feel. If you drive a little further in Ayia Napa, you’ll also love Landa beach, which is renowned for its golden sands and will be the go to place if you’re planning on building castles, both are some of the best beaches in Cyprus.

Paphos

Paphos is located in the western part of Cyprus and is known for both its beaches as well as its archaeological sites. If you have older children, it’s the ideal place to go camping and explore. What’s particularly lovely about this area is that it’s well-known throughout Europe for its clean beaches.

The Baths of Aphrodite in Paphos are a natural grotto where you can swim in crystal-clear waters. Strong swimmers will love exploring all that nature has to offer here, while little ones will love playing on the relatively remote, uncrowded beaches.

Protaras

Declared third-best beach in Europe in 2011, Fig Tree beach in Protaras, eastern Cyprus is a must-add to your itinerary. The many shallow water areas of this beach make it an ideal haunt for those with younger children or new swimmers.

You’ll also be able to visit Cape Greco National Park and its lovely pine forest trails in this area. The latter is a particularly good option for those days when you’ve had enough of the beach and would rather spend a day in the shade.

Good for the soul

Whether you’re after a bit of calm and relaxation for yourself or the kids, beaches are known to reduce stress levels and anxiety. So you’ll not only love splashing in the clear turquoise waters, but also reap some health benefits as an added bonus and of course, Cyprus offers some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean. And who doesn’t want the bonus of stress-free memories when it comes to holidaying with the kids?
